Design of the newsletter of the municipality of Řícmanice
The village of Řícmanice – a picturesque and wonderful village in the South Moravian Region.
I was approached by the village representatives to somehow edit the local Newsletter.
So I picked it up from the floor:
I changed the font and threw out the old dozen
enlarged the main headlines of the articles
abandoned the already somewhat outdated and small A5 format and introduced the generous B5
and arranged for the printer to change the paper to Chamois offset type so that the printing black would be truly black-black
Graphic cooperation with the municipality of Řícmanice continues and we are publishing new issues...

...what happened after the first redesigned issue?
As is often the case, when you graphically touch on an already established (albeit lay) design, you always cause some commotion and SHOCK among some of the old-timers!
Because everyone can coach a national team and everyone knows how to make graphics, right?
The younger generation of Řícmanice residents either remained silent about the new design of the Newsletter or simply nodded their heads in approval when I asked them directly.
It was necessary to stand up for oneself and persevere with the new design and not give up, even after the second/third issue.
With each new issue of Řícmanský Zpravoda, the sharp edges become dull and the conservative Czech gradually gets used to it. And his eye is cultivated. Even though he himself does not know it.
This assignment is my personal mission: the neighbor's eye will never again notice typographical errors such as "orphan or widow" in this general periodical, nor will it ever again spot the single-character prepositions solo standing at the ends of lines.
And in this way, I slowly accustom our reader to the beauty of empty space on the page.
Amen.
